General Program Information

HOUSTON GIRLS HOCKEY ASSOCIATION / HTX STORM

Founded in 2021, the Houston Girls Hockey Association - dba HTX Storm - is the only all-girls hockey organization in Houston.  We offer recreational and competitive programs for girls and young women from 8U thru 19U.

Our focus is on player and personal development, building our Storm Culture, and providing pathways and opportunities for all female hockey players.   Organizational core values include commitments to Attitude, Effort, Respect, and Excellence.

For those new to the sport, we offer a Rookies program as well as Learn to Play sessions with reduced prices and loaner equipment available.  We make it FUN and EASY to start your hockey journey with the Storm.

For our recreational players, we field house-level teams at the 8U thru 14U levels which compete in the co-ed Houston Metropolitan Hockey League.

For our more advanced players, the HTX Storm 12U Select and 14U Tier 2 teams provide opportunities to play in all-girls competitive events and environments.

Beginning in the 2023-2024 season, the HTX Storm was approved as a member organization within the National Girls Hockey League (NGHL).  Our 14U Tier 2 team competes against other top programs across the country with increased emphasis on progression towards Tier 1, High School, and College pathways.

Put together, our Programs create our "pathways" - the roadmaps for your daughter's development in this great sport.  We strive to provide opportunities for all skill and ambition levels, including opportunities with our partner organizations Team Texas and the Dallas Stars Elite.

2024 SPRING ROOKIES PROGRAM

New to Hockey?  We make it FUN and EASY to start your hockey journey.

Storm Rookies is a six-week program to begin learning the basics of ice hockey.   Some skating experience is recommended.  Cost is $120.  All necessary equipment will be provided for skaters who register in advance. USA Hockey registration is required.

The Rookies Program is for all ages (typically 5-12) as an introduction to ice hockey for girls.  Intended as a supplement to your local rink's Learn To Play program, the Rookies program provides extra time on the ice in a coach-led, low-pressure, all-girls setting.

The Program will take place on the following Saturdays 10am - 11am at Ice Skate Memorial City:

  • March 2
  • March 9
  • March 16

16U/19U TEAM TEXAS Tournament Team

For 2023-24, we are excited to announce the launch of the inaugural 16U/19U Team Texas Tournament team available to all eligible girls across Texas.

Due to lack of numbers in individual cities to form their own teams for this age group, we have partnered with our friends in Dallas to create a program that will bring together talented young athletes for a series of out-of-state tournaments and local games, providing an opportunity for them to showcase their skills and compete at a high level.

The team will participate in two or three out-of-state tournaments against girls from other states, as well as a Dallas tournament. In addition, the team will hold two Dallas practice weekends and two Houston practice weekends, allowing the players to train and refine their skills in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Coach Dana Victorson, a seasoned coach with years of experience in girls' hockey, will lead the team as the head coach. Coach Victorson has a proven track record of developing young talent and helping players reach their full potential. With his guidance, the U16/U19 tournament team is poised for success.
